Dr Cundy's rooms understands the urgency of paediatric fractures and aims to accommodate urgent referrals within 48 hours. He has a full time on-site nurse.

When to Refer
URGENT
Refer urgently any fracture involving the growth plate (Salter–Harris classification), any fracture with neurovascular compromise, supracondylar fractures in children, and any fracture where you are uncertain about management. Routine paediatric fractures that have been reduced and cast in the ED can be seen in outpatient follow-up within 1–2 weeks.
Treatment Approach
Most paediatric fractures are treated conservatively with casting. Growth plate fractures (Salter–Harris) require careful assessment and may need surgical fixation to prevent growth disturbance. Dr Cundy has extensive experience in paediatric fracture management.
Signs to Look For
- Pain, swelling, and tenderness at the injury site
- Deformity or abnormal position of the limb
- Refusal to use or weight-bear on the affected limb
- X-ray evidence of fracture, including subtle growth plate injuries
